Anyone know where I can find the knob tightener part on the deck hatch on a NS 26 classic. Mine split apart
It’ll be easier to help if you’ll let us your hull number and where you’re located. The age of the boat and what suppliers are around you matter.
It also depends on what you’re willing to settle for. Again, depending on the age of your boat, it might be an Atkins & Hoyle part. If so, and if they have it, or you may only be able to by the $80 or so full replacement hatch adjuster set.
I had the same problem on my previous 26C (#143), but see a different hatch set-up on my newer N26U (#233). Those rely on friction springs rather than a hatch holder. I don’t know whether the factory changed over or it was an after-market owner install, but it definitely works better.
I had a lot of trouble finding a replacement on #143 because it seemed to be an unusual size and thread that I couldn’t identify even though I’ve got a decent thread matching tool. I vaguely recall that I gave up and put a sliding clip on the adjuster. It had enough friction to resist the hatch coming back down, but not so much that I couldn’t slide it when I wanted to open or close it.

I had the same thing happen. It was and Atkins & Hoyle part and an easy fix.
Your local hardware store may have one in one of those multi item bins. It is 5/16x8 tip as I remember. My boat, a 1989, has the Atkins hatches with the knobs.
I got mine on Amazon. Make sure it is stainless. I cleaned out the threads with a bottoming tap and added a tiny bit of anti seize.

If other suggestions don’t pan out, Hammerhead nautical in Toronto (http://www.hhns.ca/) may supply it.
Use a nut to determine the tread… and either Home Depot or McMaster Carr will carry these item. Nothing special about them
