Mystic river / local knowledge sought

Morning all,
Looking to visit and tie up at the mystic seaport this summer and will make reservations . My question is more local knowledge . I’d like to anchor before or after my visit.. I’ve seen sailboats anchored just NW of the seaport docks but looking at a chart shows thin water there. My NS30 draws 4 ft and if I recall, the tide rise/fall up there is maybe 3 ft? Any info appreciated. Regards,

I drew five feet on my two previous boats.
I have anchored there often with no issue.

Even to close to the cemetery.
But there during a spring/neep tide you might touch the soft mud bottom.
In a pinch I think you could get 4-5 boats there
Holding is pretty good.
There is a designated dingy dock.

I was a seaport member and never reported to the dockmaster.
At that time the stationary heads and showers were open to public.
You might wish to consider membership there

It is fun to dingy into town.

Many thanks Francis for that info. I am a member of the seaport (and will stay there) , they have excellent facilities for visiting boats. I just wanted to anchor out and have a few xtra quiet nights. Best, Gary /Aloki

Gary, the river to the west of the channel north of the RT 1 bridge is very shallow, don’t go there. There are moorings just north of the Seaport east of the channel. I don’t know who controls them but it seems like there are always empty ones there when I drive by. FYI the bridge over Rt 1 is on an hourly schedule, *:40 is opening time.
