Hello all, this is my first posting, as a prospective owner. I am looking at a Wiggers built N33, built about 2001. It was a custom boat, at least below. It also has a carbon fiber mast. Below, on the starboard side, there are two seats divided by a built-in divider. The port side has what I assume is the normal C-shaped settee, but instead of the normal table that is set up for dining, but which can be lowered to form a double berth, there is what appears to be a beautiful coffee table, low and small. I am told that the boat was used only for day sails and racing, so I am assuming this table was meant to provide a setting for afternoon drinks and snacks. I say that because the stove is unused.
The boat is presently named Sugar Blues, but was Stormcat at least until 2009, when it was sold in Toronto to? HIN ZWY33N02F900. Does anyone know this boat?
It is now at a marina in Palm Coast, just south of St. Augustine, Fl.
If I do purchase the boat I would like to have a new, conventional table built. Would anyone be able to provide me with photos, perhaps a detailed sketch of the normal table, with dimensions and the attachment details as to how the base is fastened through the sole to structural ribs, etc.?
I would also like to add an anchor windlass. It would be very helpful to see the setup on another N33. Thanks.

Hello Nick. Welcome to the INA.
I know the boat you are buying and the beautiful young lady who had it there in Palm Coast.
I met her a few years ago while helping another Wiggers33 owner take his boat north from Florida. As a Nonsuch 33 owner myself I was very impressed with Sugar Blues and examined it thoroughly but I can’t recall details about the table. I believe there were several versions offered, all similar but not same, maybe custom made for the new owners.
I can give you details and pix of my table next week or shortly after.
I also replaced the original anchor windlass two years ago so I can share details about that process too.

Hi Nick, I believe Wiggers Custom Boats is still around in Ontario. You might contact them for info, or, contract them to make a table for you to fit this 33. I’m sure they have specs on Sugar Blues and could provide some help.

I bought this Wiggers 33 last spring and am finally getting around to adding an anchor windlass. I have chosen a Lewmar Pro series 1000 horizontal windlass. The mast is currently out, so this should be relatively straight forward. However, I have never been on a sailboat with a windlass, so I have a few questions.
The chain should lead straight aft to the gypsy, but the chain should not angle down more than 6 degrees to the gypsy. The roller mounted on the pulpit is several inches high- I can see the chain heading aft, sloping down, parallel to the deck, so I may need to raise the windlass?
It seems that a conventional anchor lock would be mounted below the chain so that one would have to push down on the chain to lock it. I have always used a line to secure the anchor. Does anyone have a preference?
The windlass comes with a dual direction solenoid and a rocker switch. Do most people mount the switch on the foredeck? I can see where a switch mounted in the cockpit might be convenient when single handing, but presently my partner is generally up at the bow directing the boat/hauling up the anchor. In the future I will also be installing a wash down pump to clean the chain and line, since the anchor locker drains to the bilge- real shortcoming! So there will be someone forward anyway.
Any thoughts?

Hi Nicholas, we have Up/Down foot switches on the foredeck and a wireless remote control for all other situations… and yes we did install an oak base to raise the windlass on our NS30U.

Hi Nick,
( HERE ) is a photo of the pedestal my table / convertible berth is mounted on. ( HERE ) is the manufacturer.
I suspect the bracket that holds the table top to the pedestal is fairly generic. Maybe you fabricate a table top and purchase a bracket to have the option to swap between the two ?
I can send a photo of the table side of the bracket if it will help. Other cabin versions of the 33 have a fold out table, mine is sized to accommodate the only the C-shaped settee.

HI Nicholas
I’m just responding to your last comment about installing a wash down pump. I wanted to bring this clever piece of hardware to your attention, which I used on a retrofit of my ‘other’ Hinterhoeller boat (not the Nonsuch). This is a through-deck fitting with a removable spigot. From Newfound Metals.
I teed off the toilet seawater thru-hull to the washdown pump and ran the hose through the bilge and then into a conduit up to the deck adjacent a bulkhead. I located this fitting about midships on the cabin top so the hose to the spray head needs only to be about half the length of the boat to get to anywhere on deck or cockpit. This pic shows a straight plastic spigot, but there was an optional angled one which is what I used (so the hose gets aimed more parallel to the deck to avoid kinking the hose).
That is exactly what I have and I’m been quite happy with it for the past 15 years. Nothing to trip over and it’s very handy. Pump is in the head under the sink.

Thanks for your ideas and your information about the equipment you used. Looks like a good setup.
I think we knew each other! I was, until a year ago, based in St. Peter’s for several years with my previous boat, the Madi B, a Sabre 30. You even helped out with pieces to repair my furler, if I have the right Niagara 35 owner.
