After 4 months, my ‘89 Nonsuch finally got delivery! WOOHOO…
NOW - the questions will be rolling!
Here’s a quickie… What “stick” was used back in the day to hold up the bi-fold table. There is a small round “fitting” in the floor. But no “stick”. There is a “hook” in the ceiling above the table. I’m thinking for kind of light. But, could have been used to support the table leaf form above??
Hi, David. Congratulations on your new boat! Where are you moored and what’s her name?
You’re in for a real treat. The 33 is a pretty nice and well performing boat for a cruiser. I was out with a friend on Friday and at least half of our sail was over 7kts in 10 to 15 kt winds. At one point we were able to sail parallel to the Californian, a 130’ schooner capable of 12 kts, though they were probably taking it easy due to nervous passengers on board. We hit 8.2 kts GPS a couple of times, which seems to be where my boat tops out. It was exhilarating. And all done so easily. An occasional tweak of the sheet or choker and that’s about all you need to do.
On our way back in (I sail in the ocean, but have a long transit through San Diego bay to my slip) we had to negotiate a busy harbor entrance while the Navy decided to do security drills and try to keep everyone 1000 yards away. So there was a lot of tacking to avoid them and other boats. I was coming up behind one boat and didn’t want to squeeze him into the ammo pier, so I tacked out a bit, then stalled for a few seconds to let him tack out of the way. Then I went back to my original tack and lost sight of him. We went way past the marina to give my friend a bit of a harbor tour, then back. We turned upwind just outside of the marina and dropped the sail. It comes down in 1 to 2 seconds with a whump! Then we zip it up when we are at the marina.
Upon entering the marina there was another boat motoring in behind me and faster than I was so I did a 180 to let him pass and it turned out to be that boat we had done the little courtesy tack for way back near the harbor entrance. He flagged us down and said “what kind of a boat is that, anyway?” It was a Beneteau 41.1 and we out paced him without trying or even paying attention. I think a lot of that is due to the extreme ease of tacking. I’ve seen a number of boats who seem to go a lot farther than is efficient before they tack while our easy tacking allows us to optimize our long curving route through the bay.
Long way to say I think you’re going to enjoy sailing your Nonsuch.
Back to your question:
If you are talking about the dining table down below, then I think you might find some variation in the tables out there. Mine is unique, so I can’t help you, but if you post photos like Bob suggested you might find someone who has your same setup.
Also, you can edit your account preferences and put your boat name, model, and homeport in the Name field and they will appear at the top of your postings. Then you won’t have to remember to add it in your message.

Good evening:
Sadly, no pictures of the folding table. Didn’t realize there were variations. Still learning… will be for a long time.
Speaking of learning- still working on setting up my profile correctly.
Some instructions would be helpful.

Congratulations on your recent delivery of your Nonsuch 33. Welcome to the forum. I have found it very helpful.
I have a Nonsuch 30U so this may not be relevant, but my salon table has aluminum pole about 1 inch diameter with a black rubber tip similar to a cane tip on one end where it meets the underside of the table when unfolded. There is a receptacle in the floor for the end of the aluminum pole. I have included a couple pictures of the way it is set up on my boat.

Thank you for this picture. Your photo is exactly what I have on/in my floor, as well.
Still looking for it. But now at least i know what I’m looking for.
Unfortunately, I had to return to my home in a MD. I hope to return in a few months with more questions!!
Up in the upper right corner (desktop or laptop browser) is a rectangle divided into three sections: a search magnifier, a speech bubble, and your Profile Picture*. Click on that picture and you’ll see some messages and a column of little icons. Double click on the one that looks like a little bust of a person, then click the Preferences tab. That opens out a bunch of sub-tabs for setting up your Profile. Select the Account sub-tab and you’ll see Username, Profile Picture, Email and Name. Name is where I put my info: “Brian Godfrey - Vela - NS33 #77 - San Diego“ and it shows up at the top of my postings.
Edit: if you are using a cell phone or tablet it is even easier. Tap your Profile Picture in the upper right corner, tap on the little bust icon, and tap Preferences. That puts you right where you need to be.
*I see you have uploaded a Profile Picture, but if anyone else reads this who has not done so, your Profile Picture will be the first letter of your username in a colored square.
