I changed my fuel filters. I have to say, changing the one on the back of the motor when you shop in the husky isle for clothes isn’t easy. I’ll definitely be relocating that filter. If I ever had to do it away from the dock in a sea of any kind… I may even resort to foul language. Anyway, when I started the engine again, which started quicker and ran smoother (yay), but then the alarm went off. The oil pressure gauge read zero. Everything seemed fine but I shut it down right away. I thought perhaps while fiddling with the filters that I had dislodged the oil pressure wire. Nope. Detailed internet research (ai) suggests oil pump failures are rare and pressure switch failures are common. New switch is here in the morning. Fingers crossed.
Hi Ron, I don’t know which engine you have, but on my Westerbeke, it has two oil pressure senders, one for the panel gauge, and another for the audio alarm. So, if both your gauge reads low oil pressure and the alarm goes off too, then I think its unlikely the senders are faulty.
