nonsuch classic in europe?

dear all,

until now i own a classic catboat (23’3", incl. barndoor rudder ).
i love that somewhat lazy sailing by needing no jib.

since i get older i’m thinking about something different, even bigger, but somehow similar to what I’m used to — mostly with more headroom (mine only has 4’4" cabin height).

now, i live at the baltic sea and wonder if there are any nonsuch (22 or 26 classic) in europe…
anyone?
thanks in advance.

best regards,
george

The pictures look beautiful, and remarkably similar to our Nonsuches, George.

There are a few Nonsuches in the United Kingdom and at least one in the Netherlands.

I don’t like to post contact information on the Internet, but I’ll send you a private message with contact information for Mike Hayes, who leads the European Nonsuch Association (EuNA) regional group.

You might also want to download, “Advice for Potential Buyers” (found by clicking on the INA INFORMATION tab at www.Nonsuch.org). In addition to being helpful for any buyer, it contains information about experience with shipping and delivering boats, should you choose to look into buying elsewhere and getting the boat back to your home.

I remember seeing some drone footage (on this group, I believe) of an NS 26 winning a local club regatta in Denmark or, maybe, Norway. This was a few years ago.

i’d just love to have something bigger, like the ns 26.
so, thank y’all for your help!!

Hi Georg -

Where is Grypswold ?? I’ve been to Gripsholm castle in Sweden but never to Grypswold.

Is it in Germany ?

sorry, my bad.
it’s greifswald — grypswold is low german (like me); others say griepswold…

I just looked it up. Grypswold is the very old name. I know the area as we rented a houseboat on Lake Muritz then rented a car and drove around the entire area. It’s beautiful - great sailing.

The NS 26 will really weigh around 4400 kilos. It’s a little heavy to dock (or leave the dock) by yourself, if you are solo. Otherwise, it’s wonderful to sail, all by yourself, or with crew. It has a LOT of comfortable room below. Good luck in finding one.

thank you very much, indeed.
and yes, the lake müritz is very beautiful!!
