NS22 Head replacement for Wilcox-Crittenden Head-mate?

Anyone have experience with a replacement head (Jabsco - Manual compact?) that fits using the same bolt pattern?

Thanks,

Hi Jeff -

I replaced my W-C toilet with a compact Jabsco. I knew that the bolt holes (actually lag screws - not bolts) would never line up. So, I bought a large white plastic food cutting board from a restaurant supplier in Toronto ($18.00). I fooled around with the new toilet, trying different placements. In the end, I placed it a slight angle thus creating more “legroom” for sitting. Knowing where it was going to end up, I trimmed/cut the cutting board such that it covered the old holes in the floor. The floor is fibreglass with plywood under it. I put a few blobs of 3M4200 on the underside of the trimmed cutting board and Robertson screwed the cutting board, exactly where I wanted it, to the floor.

I, then, was able to lag screw the new toilet to the new “floor”, going through the cutting board AND the old floor. I had to buy 4 somewhat longer lag screws as I was going through more material (and attaching the toilet even more solidly than it was previously i.e. through a thicker floor).

I pre-drilled starter holes for the both the Robertson screws in BOTH floors (after placing and "glueing"down the cutting board). Then, I pre-drilled starter holes for the 4 lag screws for the toilet. It is VERY solidly attached.

Other suggestions - If you are changing the holding tank, excellent. If you are doing that, make certain that you change ALL the hoses. Break the bank and buy Raritan top-of-the-line hoses - they retard any smells.

Just think … a nice new toilet plunbed into a nice clean tank using nice clean hoses. Priceless.

I’ve attached a photo of my installation. The Jabsco does a fine job.

Hi Jeff,

My 30U originally came with a WC Head-Mate. After a few pump replacements, I finally just replaced it because Thetford (who bought WC) no longer makes/has pumps or parts for replacing fixing the pump.

I bought a Raritan PH Superflush (this is the manual version, not electric). It was easy to install, I reused the lag-bolts from the old toilet, but had to drill a couple of new holes for the base. I filled the unused holes with 3M 4200 but they were all covered by the new toilet. Apparently, the toilet had been moved at one point by the previous owner (my father) probably to adjust for the change in pumps, as there were a few holes that were not being used when I removed the old unit.

I bought the Raritan PH Superflush from Anchor Express for under $278US. This was in Early May. I thought this a very good price.

Joe -

I think that Peter is showing us his old head, the new head and the bolt holes by themselves.

Jeff -

I paid the princely sum of $185.00 CAD + HST for my Jabsco. I bought it from Genco in Toronto just before the January Boat Show. Sandra and I day sail our boat and maybe spend a weekend or two. We don’t do long trips and the head gets minimal use. This is why I went with an ordinary quality (but very popular) head. Parts are easy to get and the thing works well.

We are happy with it.

Hi Joe,

I hope this finds you well!

Yes, the old unit that was removed, and the new unit that I installed… sorry for any confusion, the photos should have been labeled old and new… along with the photo ‘between’ units.
