Well late is maybe better than never. In the past there was some
discussion on relocating oil filters. I managed to find a source,
complete with cross reference tables to filters. Now 6 feet of hose
is a good but he might shorten it for you or you could get someone
like Cat to do that as well.
There are cheaper one out there but not diesel rated.
I'm curious as to what size filter fits a Westerbeke 21? Also, it
mentions the only adapters they have are metric and I believe our
engines are SAE.

Westerbeke is Metric. It is a Japanese engine design.

Westerbeke is a Mitsubishi block.
The filter is a standard thread with many choices out there.
Wix is one of the best. I use Fram with the black rough coating on the bottom.

The W13,21,27, 33 are all a variation of a Mitsubishi diesel block
called a K4D

used 51334, now they sell a 51064 that has a higher by pass pressure.
