Hi Joel,
Is it possible that your tachometer is a bit off? The surveyor for my current boat told me that the tachometer was showing higher RPMs than she was reading directly off the engine with one of those digital tach meters. I don’t know if it is high by a consistent amount or a percentage. (Or if her meter was wrong.) But I thought I’d mention in case it helps explain your prop performance discrepancy.
BTW, what’s the max RPM for the W-27? Is it 3,000? I did not find clear inforation on that in the manual I have.

Hi Brian,
Would you please let me know the diameter and pitch of your Campbell “Sailor” prop if you happen to have recorded it. Mine is 14x11. I’m not planning a change but am curious because I have not been able to reach hull speed at the maximum allowable revs of the W-27 during a trial. (flat water, no current, GPS me5asured speed). Also, I don’t get the 5 knots at 1800 revs that you do.
Thanks.
