The shaft comes out into the cabin in a 30U with the v-drive, the prop is much easier to pull than the forward coupling half.
The coupling is interference fitted to the shaft which makes it hard to remove on day one and after a year or two with salt water around just about impossible.
No need to remove the coupling on a 30U prop shaft.
NEVER POUND ON THE SHAFT WHEN IT IS ATTACHED TO THE TRANSMISSION OR YOU MAY CREATE REALLY EXPENSIVE PROBLEMS INSIDE THE TRANSMISSION!
Not all diesel mechanics fully understand everything they know about engines, much less transmissions.
