I’m replacing the bellows on my NS 30C’s PYI PSS dripless shaft seal and would like to know if anyone knows the diameter of the stern tube. The replacement kits come in 2 sizes: 1 1/2" to 1 5/8" and 1 3/4" to 2". Not sure which kit to get. Anyone know? Thank you.

I put one in a couple of years ago. It’s a 1 3/4” OD stern tube. I ordered from Binnacle and had to place the order for 2” with a note that I really wanted 1 3/4” because they didn’t have a choice for 1 3/4”.
02-100-134 is the part PYI number.

Thats what I thought Paul, thank you. I did a measurement with the old bellows on and figured it was closer to 1 3/4" than 1 1/2". The 1 3/4 is what
I ordered but a 1 1/2 was received at the store. I’ll drop by tomorrow and let them know to reorder. Only takes a week to get in and I’ve got all winter.
I had a Shaft Seal installed July, 2021, and have been very satisfied with it. It’s supposed to be serviced every 5 years. How long have your bellows lasted before you’ve had to replace them?

Hi Phil, I bought the boat this year but the listing said dripless was installed in 2016. So next year it’ll be 7 years old. Manufacturer says every 6 years which you know, may or may not be just a sales purchasing program but it is an important piece of gear considering if it fails the boat sinks.
