I installed a Tides Marine strong track on my Nonsuch 30C today. On my 30C the tack attaches to a padeye which is bolted to the mast a few inches below the track. Because the new track extends about two inches off the mast, the tack will now be chaffed by the track. Has anyone else experienced and solved this problem?

I installed a Tides Marine Strong Track, on my Nonsuch 22, 7 days ago. I am baffled by your description. Perhaps some time this week we can compare installations, after all, our boats are a short walk from one to the other … (grin).

It sounds to me like the first slug above the tack is to close to the tack. My Strong Track doesn’t have that problem at all.

My original track was NOT mounted on an aluminum “pad”. Perhaps this the source
of your problem.

I think there is some confusion on this thread pertaining to “Track” and “Tack”. The bottom of the Strong Track is attached to the existing metal track at or near the bottom by a screw. The sail tack cringle is attached to the padeye via a shackle.
