Video N36 doing 7.2 <> 8.2 kts in 16kts wind and moderate waves

Hi everyone! Check out this 360 cam footage of our N36 holding well over 7 knots (peaking at 8.2) in a 16-knot TWS. And for the skeptics: zero current, and 8–10 knots on the apparent wind indicator. Enjoy the ride!

I assume you enjoying sailing her. Is your Fischer sitting at the dock?

Coool, Mark!!!

I’m in the final stages of putting together the Summer INA Update. It’ll contain the article about your full dodger which didn’t make previous editions before Phil Wagner’s demise. That dodger shows really well in your video.

Now, the video’s also made me hope for two more from you:

  • The thinking behind your minimalist sail cover / dropped-sail cradle
  • How to make quality drone videos of sailing excursions

Great video and congrats on all your excellent work in the restoration. Time to get out there and enjoy the fruits of your labours. You really really deserve it!
Fair winds.

The Fisher is on the hard and hasn’t been in the water for over two years now. She looks well-maintained, with cleaned and oiled woodwork, but I still get messages and phone calls from people who think they can pick her up for scrap value. Isn’t that strange?

Not at all. Most people are cattle: they want exactly what the next person has or slightly “better”. I’m not sure how it is in Europe, but most of the boats in my 1200+ boat marina go out once or twice a year, if that. Such light use does not breed competence and the showboats require help for them to sail. Our Nonsuches are more suited for people who actually want to sail a lot and can’t pay a regular crew to reliably help us. The Fisher is made for someone who wants to face heavier weather than most people find comfortable and it may not be the best choice for someone who only goes out in comfortable weather. If it’s a good, sound boat, it seems like you will eventually find that buyer, but I imagine the waiting can be hard (and expensive.)

BTW, I saw your videos. You’ve really done a nice job on that boat.
