WLIS Fall Workshop -

There are plans to hold a fall workshop by the WLIS group , this time on the subject of “Nonsuch mainsails” . Storm sails , riding sails, stack packs as well as cruising asymmetric sails will be discussed.

Paul Beaudin / of Doyle Sails - Mamaroneck , NY is an experienced sail maker who has fabricated a number of Nonsuch mainsails ( mine included) and is also a champion J boat skipper . He has offered to host a sail workshop to share tips on Nonsuch sail trim, construction and sail systems options. I’ve known Paul roughly four decades.

Late October or early November seems to be a logical time and it would be held on a Saturday morning. The event will be at no cost to Nonsuch owners and guests. All are welcome.

Dutch lunch after the event at a local eatery is a possibility based on general interest. Pls share that interest level ( and preferred month) so I can get an idea of a potential guest list.

I will definitely attend.

BTW, we switched our race committee commitment from Labor Day to 4th of July so we can attend the Labor Day WLIS rendezvous this season.

I will attend. Late Oct works better for me (preferably a rainy Saturday- can you arrange that?) Or mid-Nov (I have a wedding to attend Nov 7 so that is out for me).

Can’t guarantee a rainy Saturday. Can’t you move the wedding? :smirking_face: - tentatively have set the date for Saturday, October 24 pending confirmation from Paul.

Very interested! Thanks for doing this. It was a 6 hour drive for the diesel workshop, but it was worth it.

The weekend of 11/1 is tricky for me. Anything else works.

It seems like haul out by 11/1 is a busy time for New England sailors. If it was two weeks later I might consider it but I have no intention of buying a new sail this year or next. That does not mean I would not appreciate the content of this assembly. The video sounds real good to me.

Paul confirmed the sail workshop for Saturday , October 24,2026 is good for him . Start will be 10 am and last about 2 hours . Depending on interest a Dutch lunch after once I figure out where !

In the interest of having members attend I think if we in fact can video the event , one of two options come to mind .

Broadcast only live and share the link with members who are not within driving distance. Or , video the event and share via the INA site at a later date. Guess we’ll discuss and advise .

Hi Rob,

I havent watched all of the video yet, but I believe it will be very useful/helpful to expand my knowledge of the engine and how to approach troubleshooting, not to mention feneral maintenance of items I may have forgotten over the years.

Hi Rob,
I attended the diesel workshop and found it very enjoyable and informational. I also watched the video and learned a little more. It’s nice to have a record of these meetings for memory sake, and for those who don’t attend.
