Balmar 5 Regulator

Occasionally my Balmar regulator will shut down the alternator after several hours of motoring, yes folks I do motor occasionally. When the regulator shuts down the tach stops. Not that it’s crucial but I am wondering if I extended the float time settings that would make it less of an occurrence.
The time settings are the default ones, I changed the voltage settings to match Trojans recommendation and dialled back the output to match my belt size

Thor- If I understand what you’re saying, you may want to look at your regulator setup to see why it “shuts down”. Diesels often use an output on the regulator that pulses for each revolution to drive the tachometer. I’m not familiar with Balmar, so I can’t offer specific advice. -Dan
