Davits support rods?

Hello all, I have recently had a set of Canadian davits installed at the Hinkley Service Yard in Portsmouth RI. There appears to be something not done right as there remains two rods hanging and doing nothing. I am posting some photos for your review and am hoping for some feedback and advice on how they should be utilized. I suspect there intended purpose is to help stabilize the Dyer Midget underway.

Thanks,

Hi Dan, these arms are intended to be attached as in the image below. They are designed to cut off the turning momentum of the davit arms.

Can’t figure out how to reply to Ron, so I’ll do it here.

Thanks for the reply Ron, I can’t quite see from your photo how the rods in question attach, please explain.
Thanks,
Dan

Hi Dan, have a look at the pic I marked up. Just connect the loose end to the eye at the base of the vertical support. I’ve marked it up in red.

Ok, I get it. Thanks!

Dan,

Why don’t you have Hinkley Yard fix it properly. I thought they were a top notch yard.
Apparently not.

Apparently not. The Hinkley Service Yard’s carpenter will be taking a look at it tomorrow to assess the issue. I’ve shared all the comments and advice, I hope it will help him straighten everything out.
I’m quite surprised myself that I’ve had to participate so much with this process, they have a reputation for excellence. Apparently not so much when put to the test.
Thanks,
Dan

I agree with Brian and thought that they were about the best in the biz. Maybe this is just a hiccup.
