Flabbergasting Foot pump frenzy ....

I honestly should know the answer to this but …

How the heck do I get the “pedal” off of either of my (leaking) foot pumps to repair them/stop the leaks/replace them ?? There is a lovely, fitted slot in the cabinetry that the pedal shaft fits thru but it looks like I’d have to turn it 90 degrees or … !!!

Clearly, this is something that ANY boater knows, pure common knowledge, etc. I, however, have NO idea of how to disconnect the pedal, thus freeing up the pump.

Help… and thanks, in advance,

You can buy the exact replacement pump at binnacle.com. I bought one a couple of years ago. Not a lot of fun to install but great to have a working pump again. And yes, the rubber foot just pulls off.

use a vice grip to clamp onto the pedal and pull it straight out. it is a very tight fit, but it will come off.

On a similar line, has anyone rebuilt the 3-way valve under the galley sink? Mine is frozen solid in one position.

I know what you mean, John.

My 3-way looks/seems like it’s about to freeze up. But thanks to everyone who tells me just to pull the pedal off. I thought that it was solidly attached and that the actual shaft had to be removed frm the pump.
