Has anyone installed a garboard drain plug in their bilge? Thoughts on installing one?

If you are worried about winter storage, and you have a depth or knot meter that can be removed for cleaning, remove one of these.
They might not be at the bottom of the bilge, but close enough to protect your woodwork in case of issue. I know my knot meter comes out quite easily.
I’d want to put something so that mice could not use it as an entry point, though. (mesh netting??)
