Introduction

I recently purchased Brittany from Lloyd Begg. A 1987 NS 30U hull #391.

I have renamed her Kahuna and will home port in Hernando Beach Florida.

BTW, I was inspired by Mike and Bianca, and have repowered with an electric motor. She is still in Refit, but I hope to hit the water by August.

Welcome to the Electric Nonsuch fleet. It’s over ten years since BIANKA became the first Nonsuch to convert to electric propulsion and I can say I don’t miss the old diesel one bit. Even when electro sailing it’s almost as quiet as sailing alone. You will have to get use to the smell of a clean bilge and I doubt you’ll miss the smell of diesel in the morning. Plus maintenance costs that are amazingly low compared to having a diesel onboard. In my opinion it makes having a Nonsuch and even better sailing experience. Enjoy!

Welcome aboard, Ehrich.

Welcome to the group from me, as well, Ehrich.

I’m very interested in the possbility of converting to electric.

I hope you’ll be willing to post something about your experiences with the process.

Welcome to the Nonsuch family. I trust you will have many years of enjoyment. Please keep us informed on your electric transformation experience. I look forward when technology allows us to collect solar energy from the sail and decking material.
