I am in the midst of restoring a bilge plank damaged by water from winter storage. I have removed the water stain on the teak and holly board, and have the damaged area down to bare teak laminate. There appears to be a polyurethane of sorts on the teak to protect it? I have removed this out of necessity on part of the board to remove the stain..Typically, I just oil the teak floor directly, but I think I should re-seal/ urethane it first? What product should I use? Any suggestions would be appreciated. The remainder of the board (and sole of the boat) is in excellent condition and looks to never have been refinished..

Not my area of expertise, but if no one else replies, you could search the topics in this Forum for “cabin sole refinishing.” There are a couple of discussions with a lot of information:

Fabulon cabin sole refinishing

I have removed all the cabin sole and aft grate by the ladder in preparation to refinish. I have tried to read as much as possible in the archives and other sites. Since Ultimate Sole is no longer made and Fabulon was the original finish I am leaning towards using the Fabulon. It appears the Fabulon oil based is prefferable to water based Fabulon and I am favoring sanding over chemical or heat gun & scraping. Which Fabulon is prefferable? gloss, semi gloss, satin? The boat came out yesterday and I removed the floorboards so I have 6 months to refinish them and reinstall. They are still in good shape and I started to strip the old finish from the top and this is working out very well, Heirloom Furniture stripper and a scotchbrite pad. I’m following the advice from previous threads on this subject. I don’t know what to do about the sides and the bottom of these boards. RE: Cabin sole

Butch,. I refinished the cabin sole on my 33 recently. I found out that what the OEM used was the product called fabulon I can report that it goes on very nicely and levels out nicely as well. It’s hard as a brick as it was used on bowling alleys. I use the matte finish for better grip. If you have trouble locating it online send me an email and I’ll dig out where I bought it from.
