Nonsuch 30 "Vindhunden" Denmark

Hello everyone,

My wife and I are currently cruising our Nonsuch in Denmark and plan to spend several months exploring Danish waters.

Over the years I have heard references to a Danish Nonsuch 30 Ultra named Vindhunden, which reportedly became well known after competing in (and possibly winning a handicap class in) the famous Danmark Rundt race around Denmark.

I am trying to learn more about this boat and would love to make contact with the owner, past or present.

Does anyone know:

  • Whether Vindhunden is still in Denmark?

  • Which part of Denmark she was based in?

  • Who owned her, or who might know the owner?

  • Whether the boat is still sailing, has been sold abroad, or perhaps renamed?

  • Any stories, photos, or history related to Vindhunden?

Since Nonsuches are quite rare in Scandinavia, I am hoping someone in the community may remember the boat or know what became of her.

Many thanks for any information.

Fair winds,

I checked INA records, which reports a Nonsuch 30U, hull # 478 (but sail # 123), named Vindhunden, that was registered with an owner in Copenhagen. Their membership lapsed in 2015, though, and we have no information past that.

If you want, I can try to contact that person and see whether they still have the boat and are open to communicating with you about it.

Otherwise, unless someone else chips in with an answer, the only other idea I have is to check whether the head of the European Nonsuch Association, Mike Hayes, knows anything. I don’t think he uses Discourse, so I don’t think he’ll see your post.

Even though his contact information’s on the INA website, I don’t want to post it here where it’s not restricted to INA members. So, I’ll send it to you in a private message.
