Hi,
I’m in the market for a NS and saw Winds of Change fit sale. I wondered if anyone had information about its history. A broker is handling the sale.

Hi,

Chris
What’s your location? I know of several becoming available on the Chesapeake Bay.
I’m in Michigan. I have a preference for freshwater boats.
Chris,
Do you know the hull number or year?
Chuck Garbarino
Chris,
Among all of the people I have corresponded with Helen knows more about our boats history than anyone. When I bought my boat and joined INA she sent me a welcome letter with all my boats chronology and past names.

It’s an 87. Waiting for a response from broker on the hull number. Current owner purchased in 2022.
Just by coincidence, Winds of Change just got brought to my attention as an unfortunate victim of AI-generated videos.
There’s a YouTube video titled, “10 “Modern” Features That Are RUINING Sailboats (And Your Resale Value)” at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvySyfWgQzk which has apparently gotten over 30K views, in which Winds of Change briefly appears at the 12 minute 10 second mark as the visual backdrop while the speaker talks about oilcanning.
I’m posting this NOT to suggest that Winds of Change has that problem. There is no basis for believing that. The same video at 14 minutes and 23 seconds has the speaker claiming that spade rudders are too risky, while showing a picture of a boat that has lost its keel rather than its rudder.
I’m posting this to say only that this video may be a source of rumors about the boat. It would be amusing if it wasn’t potentially unfair to the boat, the current owner, and anyone interested in it.
It’s always wise to get a survey before purchasing a boat. I’d urge people to listen to their surveyor and not to the Internet.

Thanks Brian. I’ll message Helen
Thanks. Pretty bad video. Not worried.
You can find the ad for Winds of Change on Yacht World by searching for Nonsuch for sale.

Right. I was looking to see if anyone had any history on the boat.
I don’t have the same knowledge of the INA records as @Helen (INA Membership Director Helen Dakin) who Brian mentioned previously. However, on a quick search of the INA records, it doesn’t appear that previous owners were INA members. That makes it hard to pull up information. Helen knows more about how these records are kept, so she may have more.
(BTW, for Discourse users, a tag like @Helen creates a notification to a Forum member that they’ve been mentioned in a thread, increasing the likelihood that they’ll see and respond to it. That’s what’s going on in the preceding paragraph. The trick is that you have to know what people call themselves here on the Forum. For example, I’m @NS233_Bob_Neches, not something obvious.)

It might be on this site. Mine is. Different name and at least 2 owners (pre superstorm Sandy) ago.

Sorry Chris. My comment was for those asking questions about the location of the boat etc. I figured that you were aware of the ad. I thought a picture might trigger a memory. The name “Winds Of Change” is not in the INA directory but I thought someone might recognize the boat from the photos and description in the ad if it had gone under a different name in the past.

Hmm,… no way there is oilcanning at the indicated area. There are other fairly glaring mistakes throughout the video. I wonder if this was generated with AI ?

Whether the stupidity was Artificial or Human is unknown. But no Intelligence was involved.

The HIN is ZHYN3416C787
don’t know if that will shed any light on its history.
Thanks. Not listed above but I did find two older listings under previous name Bustopher Jones. Looks a bit shabby in the YouTube video. The HIN is visible in the video.
