Does anyone know where I can get this Rub rail. Mike Quill does but he is gone to Florida for the winter and his site is shut down. Thanks.
Hamilton Marine in Maine. It was quite a job to replace.

Joe is correct, Hamilton is the place, and the only place that I could find it. And, fortunately, they are great to deal with. And it is a real job, believe me I watched it being done. Therefore it was expensive for me but well worth it. The material is reasonably priced and one of the shapes available is very close to the original. I can send a photo of a sample piece if you wish. Well, actually I did some time ago and you may find it in another thread. Be sure to order some of their bung material (PVC dowels to use as plugs) when you order the rub rail. Shipping is slow since they nave to use common carrier because it is not flexible and has to be shipped in straight pieces, but all went like clockwork. Fred

Thank you guys. I’ll call Hamilton Marine tomorrow.

Hi Fred,
Please send me a photo of the rub rail profile if it’s not too much trouble.
Thank You.
Cyril
Fred, I would be interested in a photo and/or any other information on the rub rail ( rubbing strake ?) you obtained from Hamilton Marine as well. About 8 years ago, I chose to have a wood worker fashion and install a section of replacement mahogany rubbing strake on my boat but time has caught up to to me for the sections not replaced.

Ken & Cyril - here are 7 pictures showing the basics comparing the old to the new rub rail material. I think they will answer most of your questions. The first one is a copy from a Hamilton Marine catalog showing some of the PVC material available from them. The one at the bottom labeled 1258-R was my obvious choice to resemble the original. I hope these help, but let me know if I can tell you more.

And here is a readable form of the catalog page, hopefully.

On the 1 5/8” side, did you mill it in any to mount flush on the hull or was the PVC soft enough to flatten under the compression of the bolts.
