Regarding the response to the eyebrow project by Ken, owner of Sashay NS 33, questioning the material of the rub rail on Serenity II.
I’m not sure at all what rails Ron has on Serenity, but I had the identical problem to yours - mahogany rails which were self destructing with dry rot. After researching options I found material for new rails at Hamilton Marine, specifically their Searsport store. Mine is called rigid PVC and is close to the profile of the original rail. I am extremely happy with the results and, in fact, think they are much better looking than the originals and equally functional.
Hamilton has a good website, hamiltonmarine.com; type 160441 into the search box and you will get info on their 30’ white piece, which I imagines what you will want. Click on the image for an enlargement. It is available in 25, 30, 40, and 45 ft pieces generally in black, white and gray. Sticks of approx 1/2" bung material are also available and recommended. Hamilton will send you a sample piece of rail or I will if they are out. Your old SS rub strip, hopefully solid, flat back like mine was, will fit perfectly on the new rail if it is the same width as mine. 3/4", I think.
I had my yard do the work and observed regularly. It is a major job, by my standards. It will be expensive to have it done (but I think worth it) and difficult to do yourself. Rails are through bolted and difficult to remove and you want to use the previous holes so drilling, aligning, mounting and plugging with bungs takes time and skill.
Here are a couple pictures of Concerto with the new rail. I can easily get clasps if desired.
Good luck.
