The sheave in the Garhauer cheek block cracked and became unusable. I removed the block to replace the sheave. I don’t see the same block on the Garhauer website. I want to use the same hole pattern. Does anyone have ideas on where I can get a replacement?
Ordered replacement sheave from Garhaur. Take a picture of block and send to them.

My question is: Are you certain that the cracked sheave is on a Garhauer block ?? Is this block the original block that was installed at the factory ? I don’t believe that our original blocks on our boats came from Garhauer.

Thank you Wes. I sent them photos late this afternoon, about an hour before their closing time.
Hopefully they will be able to help. I also sent the same email to Mike Quil.

Thank you Ernie,
I think the sheet block was original equipment. We needed a small blowtorch to unscrew the bolts, and when we finally got it off of the mast casting, the holes from the block were the only ones in the casting.

Hi Ginger,
Looking at the picture, it looks like the sheave is held in place by the screw in the center of the top plate. If so, when you talk to Garhauer, you might ask them whether you can replace just the sheave rather than the whole block.
The Garhauer block they currently recommend for a N26 is their 30-21Stainless Steel Cheek Block, which sells for under $40. It’s possible, but unlikely, that it’d match the hole pattern on yours. That block has a rectangular plate that’s 2.5" x 3.5". Yours looks narrower.
I know people have had blocks custom made by Garhauer to match a pre-existing hole pattern, but have no experience with that myself.
I don’t know your budget and tastes for how you want things to look on your boat. I think you’ll find that the cheapest and fastest replacement path would be to get a standard, currently in-production block, like the Garhauer 30-21 Cheek Block. Then, if needed, drill and tap new screw holes on the collar to match its hole pattern. The new block will cover at least some of the old holes, and extra holes in the aluminum collar do no harm. It won’t look as nice, though, if that’s important to you.
I hope you’ll share any information Garhauer gives you. I’m sure it’ll be useful to others.
