NS30C Stowable Table

The table in the 30C is very nice when in use and always in the way at all other times. Always. Here is an alternative.
The table top is trapezoid shaped to fit between the aft end of the berths. With the other three bed boards it makes for a huge bed if we wish. The legs fold in flat with locking hinges. Two stringers, although not really necessary, help stiffen the top.
The folded table fits neatly into the side of the hanging locker. Takes a minute to put up and take down. Yes, it isn’t bolted down to the cabin sole but we never use a table when in big waves anyway.
So far just plywood top and oak legs. Excuse the unstained stringers and Swiss cheese holes from trying different leg placement. Note that the two forward legs are placed close to the corners and the aft legs are inboard of them. This allows room for feet to get past the legs and not spill lunch (voice of experience). One drawback is that you can’t lean on the table when getting up.

Surely this table can be made better, and I will, sometime, soon, maybe next winter, or so.

Alan - that looks very nice.

Interesting to see the mast area of the 30C, that full door and bit of teak flooring is not there in the 26C; that little area would be a nice-to-have.

We love the 26C table, but only when we are using it, the odd time when we undo the 4 thumb screws and remove it, it makes movement around much easier.

Here’s my contribution. I’ve gained an enormous amount of room and a liquor cabinet.

Joe,

That is very innovative and very well done.

I salute you.

Now that Joe has shown his table, ours will be moved up in priority. Yours is fantastic, fast to open and close, takes little space, two formats. With a different layout on the 30 Classic, I will investigate where such an innovative table can go: on the fwd side of the head (but would have to fold inboard too) or the sliding divider (as long as the divider can still be used).

Is there any chance of talking you guys into posting your table designs on the INA website under “Members Tips and Ideas”?

https://nonsuch.org/Members-tips-and-projects/8562281 describes how.

These are REALLY neat designs and it’d be good to preserve them for posterity rather than having them disappear into the depths of this discussion group.

Sure can open the discussion there, Bob. I knew that existed but couldn’t find it for some odd reason. Now I will have to show my crappy proof of concept beside Joe’s bright and shiny table. Almost worth getting an Ultra just to put in a table

Sorry, but the below post doesn’t tell us who you are, what you have or where it is???

Oops, too used to automatic signatures. It was I, of the prototype table for the NS30C.

Okay, thrice is the charm…
