I’m looking to repair my Paloma tankless water heater, which was dormant for about 7 years under a previous owner. Does anyone know of a repair shop in the northeast MA coast?
I don’t have that info, but notice how most of us sign off so that everyone knows who I am, what kind of boat and where I live.

Several of us have replaced our old Paloma’s with their pilot lights for the newer technology Excel water heater. https://excelonlinestore-container.zoeysite.com/excel-16-gpm-tankless-gas-water-heater-low-pressure-startup-ventfree-lpg
In my case I was able to use two of the three mounting holes from my Paloma and found that a standard household heating boot (4”X 8”) was a perfect fit between the top of the unit and the old Paloma vent.
At the price and without the risk involved with pilot lights repair may not be the best option.

Some of us have replaced them with a more conventional 110VAC/engine heater. No propane, no pilots, no vents, propane lines, etc, etc. And, when you jump in the shower, did you remember to light the heater first??

Nothing to light on the Excel. It starts (piezo) as soon as the pressure drops.
But you do need to remember to turn on the valve in the propane locker!

I’m sure that all who converted from Paloma to Excel would agree that not only is it not worth the time and cost to repair/renew the old unit, the Excel is a far better water heater. No pilot light to worry about either. Hardest job was pulling out the old Paloma; Excel went in easily right in the same place using the same water and propane connections.
So you are replacing a “thankless” with a tankless …
Sorry, I HAD to do it.

Has anyone replace the Paloma on a NS33?
Here’s a new issue - my NS36 (formerly Marnita G, now Nocturne) was neglected for 7 years prior to my purchasing it. I’m replacing the anchor rode, which was severely chafed. I’m thinking of 60’ of 5/16" chain attached to 150’ of nylon three strand line. Does this sound about right? Looking for advice from other NS36 owners.
Whomever you are, it would be nice if you signed off like the rest of us so we know who, what, where and how etc.

I replaced the Paloma on my N30U with an Excel a few years before moving up to my current N33 which had an Excel installed by the previous own.
Installation is quite simple and straight forward as the old plumbing matches the Excel unit perfectly. The Excel works much better than the Paloma and operates without a pilot light.
I can provide pix of my present installation if you like.

This is the one I have on my 1984 30U. I’m very happy with it and it’s pretty much a drop in fit. It even uses the two out of three of the same mounting holes and the old vent.
Don’t try to use it ventless. On my boat an 8” Heating duct boot was a perfect adapter from the heater to the old vent.

I bought an Excel recently direct from the factory, because ExcelOnLineStore and CampingWorld were out.
DON’T.
The factory actually charged me $50 more than their own retailers do. I’ve never seen that before.
So, buy from a dealer, they’re cheaper.
Paul, if you don’t mind my asking, where did you get your 8" heating duct boot? I couldn’t find one that fit.

I got mine at my local building supply. I think they are pretty universal. I maybe should have said an “almost perfect fit”. It doesn’t actually fit over the case of the Excel but it is very close and captures all the hot air. I don’t think a perfect seal is necessary as the air is hot and really wants to rise up the stack. I haven’t noticed any problem at all and I have a CO alarm nearby.

Well thanks very much. I also have and 84 30 U # 344 so thismis encouraging. Thanks again
Off topic but I find it somewhat mind boggling that they were cranking these boats out at the rate indicated here. I’m NS30U #211 and my serial # indicates an August build start your number indicates that over 130 more were started before the end of the year.
That’s impressive.
