Salon table

Can someone either describe or send me a photo of the support leg that braces the open leaf of the salon table for the 30U. I will have to fabricate one. I can see the floor fixture, but there is nothing on the underside of the leaf. On my Island Packet with a similar set up, there was a suction cup on the top of the support.

I’ll try to do that tomorrow Don.

You mean the pole? When you flip open the table top, the unsupported side just has a pole that inserts into the salon floor. The end of the pole sticking up has a rubber ‘foot’ to keep from scratching the top.

Yeah, it’s just a pole, not attached. Look around, you may have it

The other option is to do what I did and have the table drop down from the bulkhead. It’s amazing how much larger the main saloon becomes.

Touche Joe!

Nice installation, Joe. And, no one will steal your liquor … it’s hidden behind the table.

Good thinking, man.

I trust that Ernie and all others will keep this confidential. Unfortunately, there are two other Nonsuches in my marina and we are soon to have another. I’ll keep an eye on them!

Attention INA members -

Kindly note the manner in which Joe has suggested that NONSUCH skippers pose the biggest threat to his secret cachet of booze.

Are there any POWER BOATERS in his marina ???

Ernie A. in Toronto

There aren’t any Nonsuch power boats in my marina, Ernie!! Actually, I think 4 out of the 83 slips are power boats.

I did the same thing with a drop down table with hidden liquor cabinet. It really opens up space. Plenty big for two to eat. And will also unfold to double width

Yes, Ehrich, I’m so happy with mine. When I go aboard other 30s they look so crowded and small.

Hidden liquor cabinets? Seems like a lot of effort for something that only last 5 minutes on board.

I found it! I think I will look for a suction cup to replace the rubber cap. It worked well on my Island Packet and will stay in place if someone knocks into it. If the leaf is heavily loaded I worry that the hinges would get sprung if the supported is lost.

Do you have a method for rigging out the double berth?.

No, I don’t. However, I can’t believe I’d need it as sleeping 5 on my boat is a little too crowded. The other couple would have to sleep 6 ft apart. Sort of a Covid separation.

PS – Those photos included in your email are not of my boat.

Thanks very much.
