Does anyone have a source for touch up paint for the beige color of
the cockpit area? Or some tint number or whatever?
I need to touch up some dings and only need a couple of ounces.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Brooks,
I don't have the bottle in front of me, nor any bottle in front of me,
for that matter, it's at the boat, but I got a Bayliner color at a
local chandlery that was an identical match to the gelcoat on my 26C.
When looking at it in the shop it appears rather dark compared to
white and I thought it's not right but it turns out to be a good
match. Next I'm on the boat I'll fetch the bottle and give you the
color name if number
Bob
I wouldn’t mind knowing that information as well!
thanks

Ditto for me.
And me!
Meander will be going on sale in the Spring, and I'd like to do a little extra prep and polish.

Sounds like you should just post the info to the list.

If it's a question of 'any' bottle, then make mine: Color: Light Mahogany;
Nose: Dried fruits and ginger, with a hint of citrus, vanilla and cinnamon;
Palate: Rich dried fruits, with spice, clove, orange and wood smoke;
Finish: Full and lingering, with dried fruits and sweet toffee, ginger and a
hint of wood smoke.
But I'll settle for the Bayliner color... I just won't *drink* it!

Yes, Bill, living that far north you need to drink. We’ll be sailing this week-end with temps in the high 60s.

Go for it, Joe – but mind, no drinking now!

I know it is always five o’clock SOMEWHERE.
I sure hope it is always sufficiently south…somewhere.

It has probably already been said, but gelcoat is infamous for fading in the sun. What matches your boat will not match another. Even if you had the original gelcoat color, it would not match. I have often successfully matched a gelcoat color to make a patch that is virtually impossible to see. Within a year in the sun, it shows up as a patch since it fades at a different speed than the gelcoat around it.

The touch-up I found is actually in a tube not a bottle. It is
Evercoat Gel Coat Scratch Patch. Color is Buff White Beige. Number
105653. WWW.evercoat.com.
This is a very close match to the 26-year old gel coat on my 26C.

Hi Bob,
Got pumped up by your reply then realized I need something that can be
sprayed. It's a long sad story how that came about and I'm irritated
because a tube of your stuff would have probably worked fine if it had
been the first thing tried.
So, I'm stuck with getting - wait for it, a gallon - to do a total of
about 1 sq ft. And at bottom paint prices because it's a custom
match. Took an actual sample and mailed it off to a specialty paint
store so should match faded 1985 Nonsuch 30 cockpit gelcoat.
So, anybody needing same I'll be happy to sell off the other 99.9% of
the gallon.
And Bob, your first reply reminded me of a great sign in a bar: "I'd
rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy".
Thanks
I’m willing to share the expense but only want a pint. I believe that it might be the best way to ship it as it is probably listed as banned from the USPS due to it’s hazmat content.

I could send you an ounce or so for you to test with and we'll go from
there. As said above, may depend on the state of fading.
I'll find out how it looks on Solitude next week.
