Syphon break

Morning everyone,

Attached is a photo of what I believe is a syphon break. I am sure it is original. It connects from the exhaust mixing elbow on my YANMAR 3GM30F and feeds into my exhaust outlet pipe.

It has a hairline crack which is leaking water very slightly.

Does anyone know who made them and if they are still available.

OR have you replaced it-what did you use? I am keen to use the existing unit’s footprint.

Many thanks,

That is a hydro hush muffler used to quiet the sound of the diesel engine exhaust.

Sean: The photo I’m looking at is of a waterlift muffler. They are readily available, just Google it. Make sure the small drain hole is not leaking. By the way, it may be easier to answer questions if we know what size and model your boat is via your signature.

Centek Vernalift mufflers are common on Nonsuches, and are readily available as a replacement.

I had the same problem before I converted to electric propulsion. Replaced mine with a Vectus. It is readily available and is made of plastic.
