Thanks to all who responded to my question of where the antifreeze in my Westerbeke 27 was going.
Based on suggestions from Joe and others to change the manifold gasket, I chose that route and yesterday started disassembling everything so I could see what was needed and order all parts at once.
It was when I took the tape off the water/exhaust elbow and piping I knew this was not going to be a quick fix.

The water/exhaust elbow itself is painted red and is in good condition, but from there on things go downhill.
Connecting the water/exhaust elbow to the manifold are five other rusted 2" dia connectors and pipes. There is a cast 90 degree elbow screwed into the water/exhaust elbow. To the other end of the cast 90 degree elbow is a 3" long x 2" dia joiner pipe then a connector, another 3" x 2" dia joiner pipe and finally a 30 or so degree elbow which screws into the exhaust manifold. Rust is the predominant colour.
Questions are as follows.
First, how the heck do I get this disassembled? Is it a case of getting a much bigger pipe wrench or should I be soaking it in PB or other.
Second question is what should connect the W/E elbow to the manifold, or is this the way it’s done?
Thanks in advance for all assistance.
