Lock

Hi there,

I’ve attached two pictures of the lock on the cabin door of my Nonsuch 30. Worked one minute, jammed the next!

Does anyone out there have a lock like this?

And if so, any suggestions? I’m hoping I don’t have to remove the lock entirely but understand I might have to.

Don’t know the lock, but it looks quite nice. I would think you do need to take it apart to see what the problem is. With any luck it only needs cleaning and lubrication rather than having a broken party which might be hard to find.

My first comment is to not have a keyed lock on a boat unless you are a live aboard. I’m afraid you will have to remove what looks like four screws to unjam it.

Thank you Bruce,

The lock is nice, brass and original. I will take it apart and with any luck, a clean will do the trick.

Hi Joe,

Thanks for your reply.

Actually need to have a keyed lock-we have very clever racoons here that like nothing better than to turn a latch and hunker down in the cabin!

Hi Tom,

Thanks, these are very attractive.

I did what you suggested and cleaned and lubricated the lock, it works! Note to self, check every season to make sure it is working smoothly, one more thing on the to-do list.

Thanks for your help,

Dorothy
