I am in the market for a new or good used mainsail for a Nonsuch 30U.
I know Doyle and North can make one. Are there other sailmakers who have experience making this sail?

I have a North and it seems to be a quality product.
I like the look of the radial North made for Pondus (26C 33) this year.

Mark,
I would think that any sailmaker could make a new sail for you. All the dimensions and details are pretty much available to all. We’ve got a Mack Sail dealer in Pepin who has told me that he would get me a quote on a new sail although I haven’t followed up on it because I really don’t need it yet. I bought a set of sails from him in '04 for my last boat and was very satisfied with the service and results. The price I got from him was better than what I got from Mack and the service is local. I would guess that you could find several sailmakers/dealers in a popular sailing area like the Apostles. I’d look local if I were you.

True, but if I get a sail from someone who has made many Nonsuch sails I think I will get a better sail. I should find a local dealer, but I think the sails are all made outside of MN/WI so I thought I would get a list of manufactures first.

Ed Botterel (sorry if I misspelled his name) likely knows more about Nonsuch sails than anyone on the planet. You can find him on the Nonsuch website.

Highly recommend Botterell from Doyle. Had excellent service last year.

Mark,
Check out an ad on “www.Craigslist.com” in CT. Don’t know who it is but there is an ad for an older sail that might be of interest.
