New Mainsail question

Hi Guys, I just took my boat out sailing with the new main sail it’s a triradial the boat pointed higher and the shape is beautiful it’s a little bigger it will fit my choker needs to be lengthened so I can put more shape into it. I didn’t have the full length batten in I am missing the car which hasn’t arrived. Still I am impressed.all ready planning next weekend. In 10knots of wind I was making 5.4knots and hit 7.8knots many times . Arawak 33#41. Jim Moores

John,
The INA racing Rule 6, Sails, provides that “There are no restrictions on the length of the battens.” I read that to mean that full length battens are permitted. The INA racing specifications do restrict the LP measurement at the upper leech point.

I too have a sail from Doug Burtner, and it's a Quantum loft but he worked with Steve Harrstick for years prior Steve's retirement. He uses Steve's designs
They have been making Nonsuch sails for decades.

My sail is two full top battens. It has preformed flawlessly in the years we have had her.

There is no right answer to the the batten debate just pros and cons of each.
