Good afternoon, we have a 1983 Nonsuch 30C that we’ve had for just about a year. As I understand, the propane lines lead from the propane locker to a T fitting under the salon sole boards and then to the galley stove and propane heater. Further, T fittings inside of a boat are not up to code as they can leak propane into the bilge (correct?). The solution is to move the T fitting to the propane locker and have separate lines to the galley stove and to the propane heater. Is there anybody who has made this conversion and can describe the process? Bonus points if you have photographs.
Richard,
If you scroll down a little to the Related Topics you’ll find a very detailed posting from Don on a similar project.
Discourse auto searches for you. Right below your posting is this:
And right in the middle, below the blue buttons is Related Topics, and the first one is Propane Upgrade Completed from way back in Feb.
Discourse is active. Even when you start to create a topic and just put in the title, it will do a quick search for similar topics (maybe find a good hit, maybe not). Notice the lower right in the text entry box. This is not like writing an email. (You’re not in Google anymore, Dorothy)
You need a tee in the propane locker. From this tee measure the run to each appliance. Buy a hose for each run.
Defender has pre made propane hoses.
1983 hose should be replaced anyway as a precaution.

Suggest you consider more than a tee in the propane locker - go with a manifold with valves so you can isolate each appliance - makes it way easier to isolate any leak and if the leak is in the hose/fittings to an appliance you do not need at the moment, you can shut the flow of propane off to it and use the other appliances. Pictures can be gotten, if you really need them.
And don’t forget a sniffer if you do not already have one.

You may want to take this opportunity to check the propane locker vent for leaks. This can be done by pouring water into the locker then looking below in lazarette for leaks. I discovered a leak in mine because a PO used a 1 1/8" hose on the 1" fittings. You could never get the hose clamps tight enough.
Cheers
On the matter of propane lines, shortly before haulout I noticed the bilge pump was running much more than usual. Turns out the thru hull for the propane drain had broken apart and was letting some water in via wave action! See pics. Has anyone ever had that happen? I never have! Don’t think I will replace the thru-hull with another plastic one….
