Westerbeke 21 exhaust wet elbow

I need to replace the elbow where raw water’s injected into the exhaust coming out of the Westerbeke 21 on my 26C before it deteriorates to rust held together only by force of habit.

On a previous boat, everyone had identical installations, enabling people to get group rates on production of stainless replacements.

That experience left me with the impression that stainless seems to be the way to go. I’ve found off-the-shelf suppliers for other engines, but no mention of anything that claims to fit Westerbekes or looks anything like the set-up on mine.

Has anyone done this for their boat? Any advice?

Some additional questions:

  • Was the exhaust installation standardized? Are there any specs on it anywhere?
  • Does anyone have a good fabricator they can recommend?

Thanks,

Bob- I did this with the “Murray Cressman” SS model years ago when I had my N26 (these parts are no longer available I understand). My old one had a crack in it and a fair bit of corrosion. If you want to contact me directly on it I can give you some information.

I just replaced the part on my N30U in the fall (but with the “Westerbeke” equivalent which I think is part no. 33067).

My email is jwstanley24@gmail.com.

Here is a picture of what Cressman was selling that is no longer available. It is simply 4 pieces of stainless pipe welded together. 90 degree elbow and 3 tail pieces… any welder could knock one up.

I believe I may still have a new Murry SS elbow. No longer have Nonsuch. Elbow may still be at Marine Consignment in Fall River Ma. If you are interested I could give them a call to see if it is still there. best of luck Kim 30 FELIX, 26 Watermusic 617-763-8024
